Google Maps Changes: Discover the Gulf of America with Updated Navigation
In response to President Donald Trump’s executive order issued on January 20, 2025, Google Maps has agreed to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America for users in the United States. This change aligns with the president’s directive to honor American greatness by restoring names that reflect the nation’s heritage.
The executive order also mandates the renaming of Denali, North America’s highest peak, back to Mount McKinley. Google Maps will implement these changes for U.S. users, while international users will continue to see the original names.
These actions are part of a broader initiative by the current administration to reassert American identity and heritage through the restoration of traditional names.
