Nigerians Deported from US: FG’s Strategic Plan for Repatriation and Reintegration

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced its readiness to receive citizens who may be deported from the United States. This follows reports that approximately 3,690 Nigerians are among over 1.4 million non-citizens facing final deportation orders in the U.S.

Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Director of Media and Corporate Affairs at the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), confirmed the government’s preparedness.

He stated that an inter-agency committee has been established to manage the situation, comprising the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NiDCOM, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, and the Office of the National Security Adviser.

Balogun emphasized that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is leading the initiative and that the government is fully prepared to welcome deported Nigerians. He also noted that NiDCOM is not currently aware of any Nigerians in the U.S. being processed for deportation.
