Max Air Plane Crash-Lands at Kano Airport: What Happened?
On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, a Max Air Boeing 737 aircraft, registered as 5N-MBD, experienced a tire burst upon landing at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano. The incident occurred around 10:19 p.m. as the flight arrived from Lagos, carrying 53 passengers and six crew members. Despite the tire burst, the plane skidded to a halt on the runway without any reported casualties.
Max Air’s Kano Manager, Bello Ramadan, confirmed the incident and assured that all passengers and crew were safe. Aviation regulatory authorities, including the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) and the Aircraft and Equipment Department (AED), have been notified and are expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the tire burst.
This event follows a previous incident involving Max Air in December 2024, when a flight had to make an emergency landing at Muhammadu Buhari International Airport in Maiduguri due to an engine fire shortly after takeoff. In that case, all passengers, including Borno State’s Deputy Governor, Usman Kadafur, were unharmed.
