How a Skater’s Large Dog Kept Him Off Fatal American Airlines Flight
American figure skater Jon Maravilla recently addressed reports suggesting he narrowly avoided boarding the ill-fated American Airlines flight that collided with a U.S. Army helicopter near Washington, D.C. Initial claims indicated that Maravilla was prevented from boarding the doomed flight because his dog was deemed too large.
However, Maravilla clarified that this was a misinterpretation. In reality, the incident with his dog occurred on a different flight bound for Atlanta, not the one involved in the tragic accident.
Maravilla expressed his condolences to the victims of the crash, noting that several figure skaters, along with their parents and coaches, were aboard the flight. He described the event as a profound tragedy for the figure skating community.
