Death Sentences in Ekiti: Armed Robbery Culprits Face Hanging
An Ekiti State High Court in Ado Ekiti has sentenced four individuals to death by hanging for conspiracy and armed robbery.
The convicts—Ojo Tope (37), Aderopo Temitope (37), Oyedele Oluwatobi (27), and Damilola Christopher (30)—were found guilty of robbing several victims at gunpoint on August 3, 2021, in Ikere Ekiti. Their loot included laptops, phones, jewelry, and a cash sum of ₦136,000.
Justice Lekan Olatawura ruled that the prosecution proved the case beyond reasonable doubt. A fifth defendant, Ekundayo Ajiboye (29), was acquitted due to lack of evidence linking him to the crime.
