Ohinoyi of Ebira Land Legal Battle: Court Ruling Explained
A Kogi State High Court in Lokoja has removed His Majesty, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammed Tajani Anaje, from his position as the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland. Presiding over the case, Justice Salisu Umar directed Anaje to cease presenting himself as the paramount traditional ruler of Ebiraland.
The legal challenge was initiated by Dr. Barnabas Adeku Ojiah and two others against the Governor of Kogi State, contesting the legitimacy of Anaje’s appointment. Anaje was appointed as the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland by former Governor Yahaya Bello in January 2024.
