Crackdown on Newborn Theft: Eight Arrested in Lagos Syndicate
The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Adegoke Fayoade, confirmed the arrests and stated that the rescued children have been handed over to the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development for proper care.
In response to this incident, the Lagos State government has expressed its commitment to simplifying the adoption process to discourage illegal child trafficking.
The State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, acknowledged public concerns about the lengthy legal adoption procedures and assured that efforts are underway to reduce the time frame while maintaining necessary safeguards.
