Strengthening Security: Yoruba Monarchs and Governors Unite
Yoruba monarchs have affirmed their collaboration with South-West governors to bolster security in the region. In response to concerns about the potential influx of bandits, traditional institutions are actively engaging with local authorities to ensure the safety of their communities.
They are instructing local chiefs and community leaders to monitor for unfamiliar individuals and discourage residents from harboring strangers.
This initiative complements existing security measures, such as the Western Nigeria Security Network, known as Amotekun. Established in January 2020, Amotekun operates across the six South-West states—Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, and Ekiti—to address regional security challenges.
