Aston Villa Announces Loan Deal for Marco Asensio
Aston Villa has officially announced the acquisition of Spanish attacking midfielder Marco Asensio on loan from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
Asensio, 29, is a three-time UEFA Champions League winner with Real Madrid and has earned 38 caps for the Spanish national team. He joined PSG in the summer of 2023, where he made 47 appearances and secured four major honors, including the Ligue 1 title last season.
Expressing his enthusiasm about the move, Asensio highlighted the influence of Aston Villa’s manager, Unai Emery:
“Unai is a coach that I’ve known for a while. He’s had a great career, he’s a top coach, he’s been key in me being able to come here because of his idea of how he wants to play football. I love it, it suits me perfectly and he’s a really important person as to why I’m here right now.”
Asensio could make his debut for Aston Villa in the upcoming FA Cup fourth-round match against Tottenham Hotspur this Sunday. His Premier League debut is anticipated on Saturday, February 15, when Villa hosts Ipswich Town.
