Sevilla’s Kelechi Iheanacho Transfers to Middlesbrough on Loan
Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho has joined EFL Championship club Middlesbrough on loan from Sevilla until the end of the season.
Iheanacho, 28, transferred to Sevilla from Leicester City in the summer of 2024 but struggled to make a significant impact in La Liga, featuring in nine league matches without scoring. He did, however, net three goals in two Copa del Rey appearances.
Middlesbrough, currently seventh in the Championship, aims to bolster their attacking options as they push for promotion to the Premier League. The club will cover 80% of Iheanacho’s salary during the loan period, with the percentage increasing to 100% if they reach the promotion playoffs. Additionally, Sevilla stands to receive a bonus should Middlesbrough secure promotion.
Iheanacho is familiar with English football, having previously played for Manchester City and Leicester City. His return to England is anticipated to strengthen Middlesbrough’s offensive lineup as they strive for a successful season.
