Legal Battle: Killer Mike Sues Over Grammys Security Arrest
Rapper Killer Mike, born Michael Render, has filed a lawsuit against private security firms S&S Labor Force Inc. and JRM Private Security following his arrest at the 2024 Grammy Awards. The incident occurred after Render won three awards for Best Rap Album, Song, and Performance.
He was detained following an altercation with a security guard backstage. The Los Angeles City Attorney’s office later decided not to press charges against Render.
In his lawsuit, Render accuses the security companies of false arrest, imprisonment, assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligence. He alleges that the security guard exceeded their duties, aiming to degrade, embarrass, and harm him, causing public embarrassment, distress, and professional damage.
The lawsuit claims that the incident deprived him of the opportunity to appear on primetime television during the remainder of the Grammy Awards Ceremony.
