Upholding Standards: Omo-Agege’s Warning to Leaders
Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, former Deputy President of the Senate and the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 Delta State election, has firmly stated that Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his predecessor, Ifeanyi Okowa, are not welcome in the APC. He emphasized that individuals with questionable records would not be allowed to compromise the integrity of the party.
Speaking at an APC stakeholders’ meeting in Ika South and Ika North East Local Government Areas, Omo-Agege highlighted the APC’s growing influence in Delta State, noting the party’s recent electoral successes and the defection of key political figures from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC. He stated, “The rank of the party is swelling; APC is now the bride of Delta politics. In as much as we want everybody to come, please tell Oborevwori and Okowa to stay away from APC. We don’t want them to pollute us.”
Omo-Agege also criticized the current administration’s handling of the state’s finances, pointing out that despite receiving substantial federal allocations, Delta State remains underdeveloped. He urged party members to question the state’s financial management and hold the government accountable.
