
Niger State Law Enforcement Nabs Phone Snatchers
The Niger State Police Command has apprehended 19 individuals suspected of phone snatching and thuggery during a targeted operation in Minna. The operation, led by ACP Aliyu Rabah under the directive of Commissioner of Police Shawulu Danmamman, focused on crime-prone areas including New Market, Sauka-Kahuta, Soje, and Kpakungu. The suspects, aged between 15 and 29, were found in possession of dangerous weapons such as axes, cutlasses, knives, an iron rod, charms, and cannabis. They are currently under investigation and will face prosecution upon conclusion.
In a separate incident, officers from the Chanchaga Division arrested a suspect attempting to transport a stolen white Toyota Corolla (Reg. No. LFA 799 ST) to Kaduna for sale. The vehicle had been reported stolen on January 31, 2025, in Tunga, Minna, and was intercepted at City Gate. The suspect is in custody, and the vehicle has been recovered.
Commissioner Danmamman commended the officers involved and urged them to maintain their efforts in making Niger State crime-free. He emphasized the importance of continued vigilance and proactive policing to ensure the safety and security of residents.
