Ogun Monarch Remanded in Custody Over Assault Charges

Assault Case: Ogun Monarch’s Bail Denied

A suspended monarch in Ogun State, Oba Adewale Adeniji, has been remanded in prison custody after failing to meet the bail conditions set by a court. The monarch, who was suspended as the Olu of Itori in Ewekoro Local Government Area, is facing charges of assault.

Reports indicate that the traditional ruler was accused of physically assaulting an individual, leading to his arraignment in court. While the court granted him bail, the terms included a significant financial surety and other conditions that he has been unable to fulfill, resulting in his remand.

The case has drawn attention from community members, some of whom are calling for a fair trial while others express concerns about the image of traditional institutions in the state. The Ogun State government had earlier suspended the monarch over allegations of misconduct.
