Devastating Blaze at Zamfara School Kills 17 Students
Tragedy struck in Zamfara State as a fire engulfed an Islamic school, leaving 17 students dead and several others injured. The devastating incident occurred in the early hours of the day at a boarding Islamic school in the Tsafe Local Government Area.
According to reports, the fire started while the students were asleep in their dormitory. The blaze quickly spread, trapping many of the victims and causing extensive damage to the building. Local authorities and residents rushed to the scene to assist in rescue efforts, but the intensity of the fire made it difficult to save everyone.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, but initial investigations suggest it may have been triggered by an electrical fault or the use of kerosene lamps.
Governor Dauda Lawal expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, describing the incident as a heartbreaking loss. He also directed relevant agencies to provide medical assistance to the injured and support to the affected families.
