Bwala’s Perspective: El-Rufai vs. Tinubu
Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has asserted that former Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai lacks the political influence to challenge or unsettle President Tinubu.
In a recent interview with TVC News, Bwala emphasized that el-Rufai’s political successes were largely due to the support of former President Muhammadu Buhari. He stated, “He won governorship because of the Buhari factor and got re-elected because of the Buhari factor. If you leave him now to go and run for Senate in Kaduna, he would not win.”
Bwala also highlighted that el-Rufai tends to gain prominence when aligned with influential leaders, suggesting that on his own, he might struggle electorally. This commentary comes in response to el-Rufai’s recent criticisms of the All Progressives Congress (APC), where he claimed the party has deviated from its core values and is becoming unrecognizable. Bwala questioned whether el-Rufai would have expressed such criticisms if he were part of President Tinubu’s cabinet.
