Bandits Demand N44m and Motorcycles for Kidnapped Coordinator

Ransom Update: N44m and Motorcycles Required for Release

Bandits in Zamfara State are reportedly demanding an additional N44 million and 10 motorcycles for the release of the kidnapped Coordinator of the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) in the state. This comes after the kidnappers had already collected an initial N16 million ransom. Despite receiving the first payment, the bandits are insisting on further payment, which highlights the ruthless nature of these criminal groups and the increasing toll they are taking on families, communities, and the state’s resources.

This situation underscores the dire state of security in many northern states of Nigeria, where kidnappings for ransom have become a frequent and lucrative criminal enterprise. The continued demands for more money and resources by the bandits suggest that they are emboldened by weak law enforcement and limited response from security agencies.

The family, the authorities, and the public are anxiously awaiting the resolution of this case, but it also raises deeper questions about the effectiveness of Nigeria’s security forces and the government’s ability to curb this kind of violence.
