Repeat Offender Sentenced Again in Niger State
A Senior Magistrate Court in Bosso, Niger State, has sentenced 44-year-old ex-convict Abdulmutalib Abdullahi to two years in a correctional facility without the option of a fine. This verdict comes just one month after Abdullahi completed a previous jail term for a similar offense.
Abdullahi pleaded guilty to charges of criminal trespass, intimidation, and theft. According to the First Information Report presented by the Bosso Divisional Police Command, he had recently been released from prison in January 2025. Following his release, Abdullahi broke into the residence of Mohammed Mohammed Shaba, stealing valuable items including an HP laptop valued at N500,000, a Samsung Galaxy S9 phone, and other electronics.
The offenses contravene sections 288, 349, and 397 of the Penal Code. Presiding Senior Magistrate Evelyn Christopher Auta noted Abdullahi’s repeated criminal behavior and lack of remorse, emphasizing the need to remove him from the community to serve as a deterrent to others. Consequently, she sentenced him to two years in correctional custody without the option of a fine.
