John Dumelo’s Appointment as Deputy Minister Announced
Ghanaian actor, farmer, and politician John Dumelo has been appointed as the Deputy Minister-designate for Food and Agriculture by President John Dramani Mahama. The announcement was made on February 5, 2025, by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Acting Spokesperson to the President.
Dumelo, currently serving as the Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, has been an active advocate for youth involvement in agriculture. He owns over 2,000 acres of farmland in Ghana, having ventured into farming in 2012, and has often emphasized the importance of agriculture to the country’s economy.
In his new role, Dumelo will serve under Eric Opoku, the substantive Minister for the sector. His appointment is part of a broader set of nominations by President Mahama, who has named 12 other deputy ministers to various positions.
