Gaza’s Status: China’s Response to Trump’s Remarks
China has expressed strong opposition to U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to relocate Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and have the United States take control of the region. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian emphasized that “Palestinian rule is the basic principle of post-war governance in Gaza” and stated that China opposes any forced displacement of Gaza residents.
This sentiment aligns with China’s longstanding support for a two-state solution, advocating for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel. The Chinese government has called for the Palestinian issue to return to the correct track of political resolution based on this framework.
Trump’s proposal has faced widespread international criticism, with countries such as Russia, Germany, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt rejecting the plan. Critics argue that forced displacement could violate international law and exacerbate tensions in the Middle East.
The United Nations and human rights organizations have also condemned the proposal, warning that it could constitute ethnic cleansing and lead to further instability in the region.
