
Release of Abducted Edo Monarch Confirmed
The Edo State Police Command has successfully rescued His Royal Highness, Friday Ehizojie, the Onogie of Udo-Eguare in Igueben Local Government Area, who was abducted on February 3, 2025.
The traditional ruler was ambushed while traveling on a motorcycle; the assailants killed the motorcyclist before taking him captive.
The rescue operation, which took place on February 7, was a collaborative effort involving the police, vigilantes, hunters, and supportive residents.
The Edo State Government provided logistical support, contributing to the operation’s success. Commissioner of Police Betty Otimenyin commended all parties involved and reaffirmed the command’s dedication to combating crime in the state.
