Edo Cultist Arrested Following Shooting at Funeral
As of now, there are no reports of a suspected cultist being arrested for shooting a man during a funeral procession in Edo State. However, the Edo State Police Command has been actively addressing cult-related violence in the region.
On January 23, 2025, two suspected members of the Eiye Confraternity, Aigbomian Daniel (20) and Innocent Okiomisi (32), were arrested for the attempted murder of a rival cult member, Egiegbor Lucky, in Irrua community, Esan Central Local Government Area. The suspects allegedly trailed and shot at the victim on January 14, 2025, with the intent to kill him. A locally made pistol and one live cartridge were recovered from them.
In a separate incident on November 11, 2024, suspected cultists killed a man named Danladi, whose wedding was scheduled for December. He was shot at a friend’s shop near the Esigie Police Division in Oredo Local Government Area.
