Labour Party Faces Change as Kenneth Okonkwo Resigns
Kenneth Okonkwo, a former spokesperson for the Labour Party’s (LP) Presidential Campaign Council, has announced his resignation from the party, effective February 25, 2025. In his resignation statement, Okonkwo cited internal leadership crises and a lack of effective structure within the party as his primary reasons for leaving.
He expressed concerns that the LP is currently “non-existent” due to the expiration of tenures of ward, local government, and state party executives without subsequent congresses to renew these positions. Okonkwo emphasized that the party’s internal conflicts and leadership challenges have rendered it unprepared for the upcoming 2027 general elections.
