Ondo Reports 12 Fatalities Due to Lassa Fever

Lassa fever, an acute viral hemorrhagic illness endemic to parts of West Africa, has recently claimed the lives of 12 individuals in Ondo State, Nigeria.

The state’s Ministry of Health reported that these fatalities are part of a broader outbreak affecting several local government areas. Health officials are intensifying efforts to contain the spread, including public awareness campaigns, distribution of protective equipment, and establishment of isolation centers for affected patients.

The public is advised to maintain good hygiene practices, store food properly to prevent rodent contamination, and seek immediate medical attention if symptoms such as fever, headache, and general body weakness occur.
