Tragic Incident: Young Man Dies Playing Football in Minna
A young man named Yakubu tragically collapsed and died while playing football in Minna, Niger State. The incident occurred during a pre-wedding football match at the UBE Primary School field in the New Market area of Minna on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
Despite immediate efforts to assist him, Yakubu was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. This marks the third such incident at the New Market football field, with a similar tragedy involving a young man named ABK occurring in the middle of last year.
Yakubu’s funeral prayer was scheduled for 9:00 AM on Thursday, February 13, 2025, in the Sayako area of New Market, Minna. Community members have expressed deep concern over these recurring incidents and are calling for increased medical preparedness at local sports events.
