Yahoo Boys Linked to Ritual Killings and Kidnapping
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has raised concerns about the evolving criminal activities of internet fraudsters, commonly known as “Yahoo boys.” According to EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede, these individuals have expanded their operations beyond cyber fraud to include kidnapping, banditry, and ritual killings. Investigations have revealed disturbing cases, such as the use of young female victims in ritualistic practices.
Olukoyede emphasized the urgency of addressing this issue, warning that without decisive action, the nation could face severe societal consequences within the next decade. He also highlighted the EFCC’s commitment to internal reform, noting that 27 staff members were dismissed in the past year due to corruption allegations.
