Nasser Al-Khelaifi Faces Charges in Corporate Abuse Case

PSG President Charged with Abuse of Power in France

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), has been charged by French judicial authorities with complicity in abuse of power. The charges are linked to allegations of influencing shareholder voting within the French conglomerate Lagardère in 2018.

Specifically, Al-Khelaifi is accused of assisting Arnaud Lagardère in securing favorable votes from Qatar Holding LLC during a shareholder meeting, allegedly in exchange for promises beneficial to Qatar.

Al-Khelaifi has denied any wrongdoing and has not been placed under judicial supervision. He expressed surprise at the charges, asserting that he had no influence over the matter.

In response to these legal proceedings, Qatari officials have expressed frustration over what they perceive as unfounded accusations and are reportedly considering withdrawing investments from both PSG and beIN Sports. Such a move could have significant implications for French football, particularly concerning broadcasting rights and financial stability.
