Ondo Police Abduction: Two Suspects Face Arraignment

Two men, Lekan Osansan and Olubodun Oladimeji, have been arraigned before a Chief Magistrate Court in Akure, Ondo State, for allegedly kidnapping Police Inspector Michael Aromeh. The incident occurred on January 12, 2025, at the NTA Junction in Akure, where the suspects reportedly abducted Inspector Aromeh, who was in uniform, and took him to an unknown location. A police team later rescued the officer.

The defendants face a three-count charge, including conspiracy and kidnapping, offenses that contravene Sections 516, 364, and 249(D) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, Nigeria, 2006. They pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Chief Magistrate R.A. Olumilua granted each defendant bail in the sum of ₦1 million, with two sureties in like sum. One surety must be a Level 14 officer in the state civil service, and the other must be a clergyman or a recognized chief. Additionally, each surety is required to deposit ₦500,000 with the court. The case has been adjourned to March 5, 2025, for further hearing.
