Politicians with Conscience Reject APC Amid Tinubu’s Failures
Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, former Governor of Sokoto State, has criticized recent defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria’s Northwest region, attributing them to personal interests rather than public service. Speaking after the inaugural Zonal Executive Council Meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Northwest in Kaduna on February 15, 2025, Tambuwal stated that politicians with a conscience would not join the APC, citing the current economic hardship and what he described as the poor performance of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Tambuwal accused the APC-led federal government of lacking focus, compassion, and direction. He called on opposition forces to unite and strategize for the 2027 elections to provide Nigerians with an alternative leadership.
The PDP Northwest leadership reaffirmed its commitment to reclaiming power in 2027, emphasizing the need for unity and strategic mobilization. A communiqué issued at the end of the meeting highlighted the party’s resolve to provide quality leadership and address internal conflicts swiftly, as Nigerians look to the PDP for direction.
The meeting was attended by prominent PDP figures, including former Kaduna State Governor Ahmed Makarfi, former Kano State Governor Ibrahim Shekarau, and Jigawa PDP governorship candidate Mustapha Sule Lamido, among others.
