In recent weeks, Southern Kaduna has experienced a series of abductions targeting women and children. On February 17, 2025, bandits attacked the Kugauta and Kitanda communities in Kauru Local Government Area, kidnapping 22 individuals, predominantly women and children.

Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, condemned these attacks and called for the establishment of a military Forward Operation Base in the region to enhance security.

Earlier, on February 13, 2025, 16 people, including 11 women and five children, were abducted during an attack on the Makeri, Mai-Ido, and Kushumi communities in Kagarko Local Government Area. The assailants, some dressed in military uniforms and armed with AK-47 rifles, conducted the raid in broad daylight.
