Capital Punishment in Rivers State: Man Sentenced for Mortuary Owner’s Death
A Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt has sentenced Eze Kingsley to death by hanging for the murder of mortuary owner David Wagbara. The incident occurred on December 7, 2018, in Rumuosi Community along the East-West Road in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
The altercation began when Wagbara requested that a petroleum tanker, associated with Kingsley, be moved from the entrance of his mortuary as it was obstructing business operations. The dispute escalated, leading Kingsley to fatally stab Wagbara. Justice Omah Diepreye ruled that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt, resulting in Kingsley’s conviction and death sentence.
