Appeal Court Upholds RCCG Pastor’s Selection as Soun

Legal Victory for RCCG Pastor in Ogbomoso Selection Case

The Court of Appeal in Ibadan, Oyo State, has overturned a previous high court ruling that nullified the selection and installation of Pastor Afolabi Olaoye as the Soun of Ogbomoso. In October 2023, the Oyo State High Court in Ogbomoso had declared Olaoye’s appointment invalid, citing non-compliance with legal selection procedures.

However, on February 18, 2025, a three-member panel led by Justice Yargata Nimpar dismissed the lower court’s judgment, stating it lacked jurisdiction, as the plaintiffs had not exhausted administrative remedies before seeking judicial intervention. This appellate decision effectively reinstates Pastor Olaoye as the legitimate Soun of Ogbomoso.
