Singer Portable Still on the Run, Police Confirm
The Ogun State Police Command has dismissed claims by singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, that he is undergoing psychiatric treatment at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta. The police maintain that Portable remains wanted in connection with an alleged assault on government officials.
In a recent video, Portable declared himself a “madman” receiving treatment at the hospital, pleading for leniency from the authorities. However, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, stated that Portable must surrender himself for investigation, emphasizing that if he is indeed in any medical facility, the police should be informed.
The allegations stem from an incident where Portable and his associates reportedly attacked officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development during an enforcement exercise in Ota. While nine of his associates were arrested, Portable allegedly fled the scene and has since been in hiding. The police have obtained a court order declaring him wanted after he repeatedly ignored their invitations to appear for questioning.
In response to the situation, Portable took to social media, claiming he is being targeted due to his association with Senator Adeola Solomon, also known as Yayi. He reiterated his alleged mental health condition, stating he has a patient card from Aro Hospital as proof. Despite his claims, the police insist that Portable must present himself to the authorities to address the allegations against him.
