Senate Calls NSA and DSS Chief on Boko Haram Funding Allegations

Inquiry into Boko Haram Financing: NSA and DSS Leaders Summoned

The Nigerian Senate has summoned National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, along with the Directors-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), National Intelligence Agency (NIA), and Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), to address allegations that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is funding Boko Haram insurgents in Nigeria.

This action follows claims by U.S. Congressman Scott Perry, who alleged that USAID has been involved in financing terrorist activities worldwide, including in Nigeria. The Senate’s decision to investigate these allegations was prompted by a motion from Senator Ali Ndume, emphasizing the urgency of probing the matter. The security chiefs are expected to provide a closed-door briefing to the Senate on the veracity of these claims.
