Kano Kidnapping: Mother and 3-Year-Old Daughter Missing
On February 19, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., six armed assailants abducted 22-year-old Fatima Bello and her three-year-old daughter, Nana Unaisa, from their residence in Malikawa Sarari, Bichi Local Government Area, Kano State.
The gunmen forcibly entered the home of Bello Murtala, Fatima’s husband, by firing shots into the air and then escaping with the victims on motorcycles. A police patrol team, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Bichi, responded promptly to the distress call; however, the kidnappers had fled before their arrival. Authorities have assured the public that efforts are underway to rescue the mother and child and to apprehend the perpetrators.
This incident is part of a troubling pattern of abductions in Kano State. In a similar case three weeks prior, gunmen kidnapped a young woman named Zainab in Garo town, Kabo Local Government Area, after extorting ₦8 million from her family. Despite the ransom payment, the assailants abducted Zainab and fled to an unknown location.
