FG Reports Nigeria’s Daily Import of 25 Million Litres of Petrol
The Federal Government of Nigeria has confirmed that the country’s daily petrol consumption stands at 50 million litres, with 25 million litres sourced from domestic refineries and the remaining 25 million litres imported to meet demand.
This development follows previous reports that the Dangote Refinery, which commenced operations in September 2024, was expected to supply 25 million litres of petrol daily to the Nigerian market, with plans to increase output to 35 million litres daily by October 2024.
However, subsequent reports indicated that the refinery faced challenges in meeting these targets, leading to continued reliance on imports to bridge the supply gap.
The government’s confirmation underscores ongoing efforts to balance domestic production with imports to satisfy the nation’s petrol requirements.
