Pastor TD Jakes Responds to Allegations of Assault

TD Jakes Addresses Controversial Sexual Assault Claims

Bishop T.D. Jakes, the prominent leader of The Potter’s House megachurch in Dallas, Texas, is currently confronting allegations of sexual misconduct from two brothers, Duane and Richard Youngblood. Both claim that Jakes sexually assaulted them over four decades ago.

In November 2024, Duane Youngblood publicly accused Jakes of attempting to assault him during his teenage years. He demanded a $6 million settlement for a private resolution, threatening a lawsuit for sexual assault and harassment if unmet. In response, Jakes filed a defamation lawsuit against Duane in a Pennsylvania federal court, vehemently denying the allegations and labeling them as false and defamatory.

Subsequently, in January 2025, Richard Youngblood supported his brother’s claims, alleging that Jakes attempted to assault him during a ministry trip in the late 1980s. Richard detailed an incident where Jakes allegedly climbed into his bed and made unwanted advances.

Jakes has consistently refuted these accusations, asserting in a recent affidavit that he has “never harbored carnal desires” toward the Youngblood brothers or any other men. He describes the allegations as a coordinated effort to tarnish his reputation and ministry.

The legal proceedings are ongoing, with Jakes seeking to dismiss the claims and restore his standing. The situation has garnered significant public attention, impacting both Jakes’ personal and professional life.
