Fubara Reflects on Freedom Amid Rivers Crisis
Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has attributed his recent political autonomy to the fallout with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who currently serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. Fubara stated that the crisis with Wike led to his “freedom,” allowing him to assert his leadership more independently.
The discord between the two leaders has been ongoing, with Fubara previously indicating that the root of their disagreement centers on the control and management of the state’s resources. He emphasized his commitment to safeguarding these assets for the benefit of Rivers State residents.
In response to the escalating tensions, Wike has accused Fubara of orchestrating a coup to unseat the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, a move that reportedly backfired. This accusation adds another layer to the complex political dynamics within the state.
