Allegations Surface: ECWA Pastor Under NAPTIP Probe for Sexual Misconduct

ECWA Pastor Faces NAPTIP Scrutiny Over Sexual Harassment Claims

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has initiated an investigation into allegations of sexual harassment against Reverend Nashon Azaki, the senior pastor of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in Wuse II, Abuja.

The clergyman is accused of sexually harassing female staff members of the church, allegedly exploiting his position for personal gratification. These allegations have prompted concerned church members to petition both NAPTIP and the ECWA headquarters, demanding his removal. NAPTIP’s Public Relations Officer, Vincent Adekoye, confirmed the receipt of the petition and stated that all parties involved have been invited for interrogation as part of the ongoing investigation.

In a related development, legal practitioner Dr. George Ogunyomi, representing the concerned church members, submitted a petition to ECWA’s General Secretary. The petition accuses Rev. Azaki of violating ECWA’s ethical standards by remaining in office despite “overwhelming evidence” of sexual misconduct. The petitioners expressed disappointment over the church leadership’s handling of the case, alleging that efforts to shield Rev. Azaki from scrutiny have undermined the integrity of the congregation. They are calling for his immediate removal and an independent investigation to restore trust within the church community.
