Kano Court Sentences Three to Death by Hanging

Death Sentence for Trio in Kano Murder Case

In recent weeks, the Kano State High Court has handed down multiple death sentences in separate murder cases.

On February 18, 2025, the court sentenced three individuals to death by hanging for the 2019 murder of 70-year-old Hamisu Hassan. The convicted persons are:

  • Abdullahi Sani
  • Abubakar Aliyu
  • Ibrahim Musa

The court found that the prosecution proved beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendants conspired and murdered Hassan.

Earlier, on February 3, 2025, the same court sentenced five men to death by hanging for the murder of 67-year-old Dahare Abubakar. The convicts accused Abubakar of witchcraft and fatally stabbed her. The individuals sentenced are:

  • Da’luta Ibrahim
  • Abdulaziz Yahaya
  • Faisal Yahaya
  • Ibrahim Abdu
  • Ayuba Abdulrahman

These cases underscore the judiciary’s commitment to addressing violent crimes and delivering justice in Kano State.
