Adamawa: Reverends Kidnapped in Disturbing Incident
In the early hours of February 22, 2025, two Catholic priests were abducted from their residence in Gwaida Malam, Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa State. The victims are Reverend Father Mathew David Dusami of the Yola Catholic Diocese and Reverend Father Abraham Samman of the Jalingo Diocese. The assailants, armed with dangerous weapons, stormed the priests’ residence around 4:00 a.m. and forcibly took them away.
In response to the abduction, the Adamawa State Police Command has launched a manhunt to apprehend the perpetrators and secure the safe release of the clerics. Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, condemned the attack, describing it as an “unprovoked kidnapping of religious leaders who are actively working to promote peace in society.” He has deployed a special police team to track down the kidnappers and bring them to justice.
The police have urged the public to remain calm and provide any useful information that could assist in the rescue operation. This incident has raised concerns among residents and the Christian community, highlighting the need for enhanced security measures to protect religious leaders and curb the rising wave of abductions in the region.
This abduction follows a similar incident in December 2024, when two pastors of the EYN Church in the Billa Malamure area of Fufore Local Government Area were kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
