Niger State Shooting: Policeman and Immigration Officer
On February 21, 2025, Assistant Superintendent of Immigration (ASI) Christian Oladimeji sustained a gunshot wound in Minna, Niger State, during a confrontation between police officers and hoodlums. The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. near the Obasanjo Complex.
A surveillance patrol team from the ‘A’ Division Police Command, led by ASP Ibrahim Audu Paiko, encountered individuals suspected of stealing iron rods. As the officers attempted to recover the abandoned materials, they were attacked by other workers and hoodlums, who pelted them with stones and damaged the police patrol vehicle.
In an effort to disperse the mob, ASP Audu fired a shot that accidentally struck ASI Oladimeji, who was passing by on a motorcycle. She was immediately taken to IBB Specialist Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed she had suffered a fracture in her waist. Several suspects have been detained for questioning, and disciplinary measures have been initiated against the officers involved.
