Porsha Williams Comments on Ex’s ICE Detention Situation
Porsha Williams, star of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” has addressed the recent detention of her estranged husband, Simon Guobadia, by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Guobadia, a Nigerian-born businessman, is currently held at Stewart Detention Center in Georgia. Williams expressed her disappointment over the situation, stating, “It’s disheartening to see my estranged husband make choices that have led to this outcome. At this moment, my priority is moving forward with my family.”
Guobadia’s detention follows President Trump’s recent mass deportation mandate, which has intensified immigration enforcement. Having migrated to the U.S. in 1982, Guobadia overstayed his visa and was declared deportable in 1985. He faced multiple arrests for bank and credit card fraud, leading to his deportation in 1992; however, he returned shortly thereafter. Despite applying for citizenship in 2016, his application was denied, and subsequent appeals have been unsuccessful.
Williams filed for divorce from Guobadia in February 2024 after 15 months of marriage. The couple has been involved in ongoing legal disputes, including a lawsuit filed by Guobadia against Williams over alleged defamatory social media posts.
