A Moment of Prayer Turns into a Snake Encounter
On the morning of Saturday, February 22, 2025, a 27-year-old pastor was bitten by a black mamba while praying near a river in Hazelmere, KwaZulu-Natal. The incident occurred around 6:41 AM. The pastor reported that a large black snake, believed to be a black mamba, bit him on his left foot during his prayer session.
Despite the severity of the bite, he managed to walk away from the river and sought assistance from nearby security officers. They promptly contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), and paramedics treated him for neurotoxic poisoning symptoms before transporting him to a medical facility for further care.
Black mambas are among the world’s most venomous snakes, and their bites can be fatal if not treated promptly. Immediate medical attention and the administration of antivenom are crucial for survival.
