Gunmen Strike Delta Church, Worshippers Taken Hostage
On Friday, February 21, 2025, around 10 p.m., gunmen attacked the Elyon Paradise Ministry in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, during a vigil service. The assailants shot the church’s leader, Apostle Divine Omodia, who sustained injuries to his leg and lost two fingers.
He is currently receiving medical treatment. The attackers also abducted six individuals, including two security guards. The kidnapped victims have been identified as Helen Onwuamaeze, Ariyo Emmanuel, Chike Okolo, and Blessing Waye; the names of the two guards have not been disclosed. The Delta State Police Command has not yet confirmed the incident, stating that no official report has been filed.
