Elected Osun LG Chairmen Receive Certificates of Return
The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) has presented Certificates of Return to the newly elected local government chairmen and councillors. The elections, held on Saturday, saw the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secure all 30 chairmanship and 332 councillorship positions across the state.
OSIEC Chairman, Hashim Abioye, congratulated the winners and urged them to serve as exemplary ambassadors of democracy through their conduct and dedication to public service.
In a subsequent ceremony at the Osun State Government House, Governor Ademola Adeleke administered the oath of office to the newly elected officials. He directed them to refrain from accessing local government secretariats to prevent potential conflicts and emphasized adherence to the PDP’s manifesto, highlighting his administration’s commitment to state transformation.
Governor Adeleke also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for maintaining peace during the electoral process and reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the rule of law.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) criticized the election results, alleging irregularities and expressing dissatisfaction with the PDP’s sweep of all positions.
