Unprecedented Win: PDP Dominates Osun’s Local Government Areas
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has secured a sweeping victory in the recent local government elections in Osun State, winning all 30 chairmanship and 332 councillorship seats. The Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC), Hashim Abioye, announced these results on February 22, 2025.
Despite advisories from the police and the Attorney General of the Federation to postpone the elections, OSSIEC proceeded, citing a judgment from the Osun State High Court in Ilesa that mandated the filling of vacant local government positions.
Governor Ademola Adeleke participated in the electoral process, casting his vote in the Ede North Local Government Area.
