Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been inaugurated as the Governor of Ondo State, commencing his first full four-year term. The swearing-in ceremony took place on Monday, February 24, 2025, at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure, the state capital. Aiyedatiwa, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), assumed office following his victory in the November 16, 2024, gubernatorial election, where he and his deputy, Olayide Adelami, secured a landslide win, capturing all 18 local government areas.
Prior to this, Aiyedatiwa had been serving as the acting governor since December 27, 2023, after the passing of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. Akeredolu had previously transferred power to Aiyedatiwa before his demise due to a prolonged illness.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, former APC Chairman Bisi Akande, former Governor of Ogun State Olusegun Osoba, Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Youths Olawande Ayodele, and former Governor of Ondo State Olusegun Mimiko.
In his inaugural address, Governor Aiyedatiwa pledged to focus on development and stability within the state, aiming to build upon the legacy of his predecessor and address the pressing needs of Ondo’s citizens.
