Hamas Refutes Claims of Hostage Body Exchange with Israel

No Hostage Body Exchange: Hamas Responds to Reports

Hamas has refuted reports suggesting it plans to exchange the bodies of two Israeli hostages for the release of Palestinian prisoners. Hamas official Mahmoud Mardawi emphasized that such claims are unfounded and reiterated the group’s demand for Israel to honor the existing ceasefire agreement by releasing the 600 Palestinian prisoners who were scheduled for release on Saturday.

The situation has been further complicated by a recent incident in which Hamas handed over a body it claimed was that of Israeli hostage Shiri Bibas. However, Israeli authorities determined that the body was not Bibas, leading to heightened tensions and delays in the prisoner exchange process.

In response to these developments, U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff is set to return to the Middle East to negotiate an extension of the current ceasefire, aiming to maintain the fragile peace and address the complexities surrounding the hostage and prisoner exchanges.
