Atedo Peterside: The Dangers of Normalizing Fraud
In a recent interview on Channels TV’s “Sunday Politics,” Atedo Peterside, founder of Anap Foundation, expressed concern that if not addressed, the Nigerian elite might normalize deceit and fraud. He emphasized the importance of truthfulness among leaders, especially when discussing significant national issues.
Peterside’s remarks were in response to former military president Ibrahim Babangida’s autobiography, “A Journey In Service,” which revisits the annulment of the June 12, 1993, presidential election. In the memoir, Babangida claims he was unaware of the annulment announcement, attributing it to his press secretary acting without his consent.
Peterside highlighted the need for elders to consistently uphold and convey the truth to guide the younger generation.
